Remedy FAQs

Yes, absolutely! Like all NEXT boats, the Remedy models do not sacrifice stability for responsive performance. You can learn to row in this boat, and not worry about upgrading to a high performance boat later.

Compared to the Prophet C1X, the Remedy C1X models are narrower, with lower freeboard and less volume. Thus they feel smaller and closer to the water. The reduced volume results in a wetter ride, and increases “carry-ability” on shore.

Build-wise, the Remedy utilizes vacuum-bagged fiberglass/epoxy with some carbon fiber reinforcement, while the Prophet is a 100% prepreg carbon fiber/kevlar/epoxy build. Finish-wise, the Remedy wears a gelcoat finish, while the Prophet is finished in a premium yacht polyurethane.

Both are World Rowing C1X class coastal sculls. Both are 6 m long, and both are lighter than the World Rowing minimum weight of 35 kg (77 lb). Both are very responsive, remarkably composed in waves of any size, yet stable enough for learning to row.

“C1X” and “C2X” refer to World Rowing coastal racing classes.

For C1X boats, the rule dictates maximum boat length (6 m/19’8″), minimum beam (measured at two locations), and minimum weight (35 kg / 77 lb).

For C2X boats, the rule dictates maximum boat length (7.5 m/24’7″), minimum beam (measured at two locations), and minimum weight (60 kg / 132 lb).

Yes, although the Remedy C1X requires the use of the Ballast Kit (included) in order to bring the boat to race weight (35 kg / 77 lb) per World Rowing rules. Without ballast, the Remedy is too light to compete in a sanctioned regatta. For non-sanctioned racing, you’re good-to-go!

Designed for play or competition, the Remedy FG is a World Rowing C1X ready to take on your favorite waves like nothing before it.

Get ready to surf because the Remedy sets a new bar for surfing ability!

All of this responsive performance comes with no sacrifice in stability—the Remedy FG is another NEXT high-performance machine that it is 100% suitable for beginners.

Like its sister the revolutionary Prophet CF, the Remedy FG is loaded with exclusive features.

Tapered Stern

There’s nothing like a tapered stern for reducing turbulence and drag.

Glide like you’ve never glided before in a coastal scull.

Helps the Remedy give you a relaxed ride while surfing.

Side Drains

Continuing in the tradition of the revolutionary Prophet CF, the Remedy’s side drains provide a shorter exit path for boarding water.

Adjustable Fin

It’s hard to overestimate the value of a fin that turns rowing in a cross-breeze into a balanced and effortless exercise.

In shallow water, and on land, trying to protect a fixed fin is a nuisance.  Our adjustable fin can be quickly pulled up or removed completely whenever you need to!

Cockpit Innovations

The widest seat in class not only means more comfort, but the wide track enhances your stability in the rough stuff. More stability = more control. More control = more fun!

And when your body and seat become “temporarily separated” during a wave launch, a wider seat gives your butt a bigger landing pad.

Coastal Seat Wheels

All-plastic, open wheel bearings mean zero corrosion to gum up the works.

A concave wheel profile rolling on a convex track means less sand and grit getting trapped in your slide train.

Spread your feet and make yourself comfortable in the Remedy’s cockpit.

Wider stance = better ergonomics, plus better balance when the going gets wavy!

Leak-Free Design

Skin penetrations create leaks. We engineered our own surface-mounted anchors, so the Remedy’s skin is penetrated only where necessary: at the drains.
